Welcome to Picture This: We Can End Poverty!
Submissions are currently being judged and the winners will be announced shortly. An awards ceremony to honour the first prize winners in the Amateur and Professional categories will take place on 15 September 2010 in the United Nations building in New York. It will be an invitation-only event. If you live in NY or the NY-area and would like to attend, please send an e-mail to: picturethis@undp.org with your complete contact details and affiliation.
Picture This: We Can End Poverty is looking for photos depicting people taking action to achieve any of the 8 Millennium Development Goals. We have received photos of hunger, poverty, sickness and devastation, which the international community must address. Yet, we know there are men, women and children all over the world, doing something positive to end extreme poverty.

The eight Goals are:
Contestants must enter either as professionals or amateurs, not both.
The 2010 contest will include a People's Choice Award where the public will vote for their favourite photo online through this website. Click here to vote.
The winning photos will be exhibited during the UN MDG Summit and UN General Assembly in September, 2010 in New York, when world leaders will meet to recommit and redouble their efforts in the fight against extreme poverty.
Contest organizers: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with Olympus Corporation, The Agence France-Presse (AFP) Foundation and the UN’s Department of Information(DPI).
The contest is open to all photographers, with no restrictions based on age, gender or nationality. Minors are responsible for ensuring their submission is in compliance with the legal requirements of their country.
