We still have a long way to go to ensure safe womenhood. Risks of pregnancy are related to so many socio-eonomic conditions that singlular intervention is not enough. There is a growing awareness at all sides. In this picture, women carry a load of pine needles for animal bedding. Among many other things, heavy work load particularly that induces pressure around pelvic floor results in the fall of womb. In Nepal, some 20% women are estimated to be affected by the fallen womb or Utero Pelvic Prolpase (UPV). Nepal’s government is drawing a multipronged strategy to address this problem as it realizes that no MDGs can be achieved if such problems continue to persist among Nepali women.
