For the purposes of this contest, we define a professional photographer as someone who makes a living from selling their photographs or who works as a photographer for either profit or non-profit organizations.
The photos you enter must have been taken in the past 24 months on the continent of Africa (between August 2007 and August 2009)
For the Single Photo category – both professional and amateur – contestants may submit up to five different photographs.
For the Photo Essay category – both professional and amateur – contestants may enter no more than one photo essay consisting of four to 10 photos.
Only photos not already published may be submitted.
You must possess all copyrights of your images.

We want to see photos with people in them, documenting their efforts to make positive changes to the environment around them. Special attention will be paid to photos showcasing the role that women can and do play as stewards of their environment.
Yes. Captions are a crucial part of the contest. We must know who you are photographing, where they live, what they are doing and what change they hope to see as a result.
